In 1996, the National Auctioneers Association began a Designation course for Personal Property Appraisers called GPPA (Graduate, Personal Property Appraiser). The NAA asked 5 Personal Property Appraisers from around the Country to come together, along with a Professor from Indiana University, to design and write the course. Our lead Appraiser, Jay D. Nitz, was one of the 5 Appraisers asked to help write and initiate this prestigious Designation course. Jay also contributed heavily in the development of the template that all graduates of this Designation receive to form their Appraisal reports. All designees are required to submit a finished Appraisal, using USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) guidelines and standards, to receive their designation. All designees are required to complete continuing education every 2 years and complete a 7-hour update course on USPAP to retain their designation. These designees are recognized throughout the World as experts in their chosen fields of expertise in all disciplines of Personal Property.
Our lead appraiser, Jay Nitz, has been awarded his Master Personal Property Appraiser (MPPA) designation through the National Auctioneers Association (NAA). This is a hands-on course requiring its’ designees to complete a variety of asset valuations while under the supervision of other MPPA designees. Jay has also taken and passed the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices) course and examination. To earn his designations, he had to complete a variety of appraisals and submit them for peer review. In the past 35 years, Jay has completed over 1,500 Appraisals of various types of Personal Property Assets.
